Camden Town, London » City Info

Camden Town is a well-known region in north London, England, famous for its extraordinary congregation of alternative culture. The area has also been linked with world famous celebrities such as Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss.
Situated on the northern side of the ‘City of London’; a small city within Inner London, Camden town is the cultural and entertainment hub of the ‘London Borough of Camden’.
Known mostly for its open air markets and its people’s attraction towards a liberal style of living, Camden has always had a liking for alternative culture such as Retro, Funk, Punk and Goth since the 60’s. This can be easily indicated from their jewellery, tattoos and dressing style.
Other than its marketplaces, Camden Town is also known for its other attractions such as the Lock, Regent’s Canal, Pubs like the ‘World’s End’, Museums, Roundhouse, Churches and Catacombs. Nobody actually refers to Camden Town by its full name, but just as Camden. However, this should not be confused with the London Borough of Camden as Camden Town is part of the Borough of Camden and not the whole of it.
Travelling in Camden is fairly comfortable as it is easily accessible by bus and train. The Camden Town Underground Station is nearby to all markets and tourist attractions. For more comfort, there are plenty of mini cabs and black cabs.
